The Object
A boy, subject to the strain of living up the requirements of the average
school curriculum, needs more than freedom from school during summer
season. He should spend it in a boy’s way, close to nature, and removed
from the conventionalities of a summer resort. To surround him with
conditions which make for manly sport; to teach him to be self-reliant, how
to act in the woods and on and in the water, and to have a gentleman’s
regard for the rights of others is the chief aim.
